New Speed Limits on Michigan Highways

Legislation has raised the speed limit on some Michigan highways to 75 mph.  What does this mean for hospitals? Did you know hospitals can request a 10 mph decrease if:

  • The portion of the road is near a hospital campus
  • The requesting hospital is located along highways with a posted speed limit of at least 50 mph
  • If the request was supported by an engineering and safety study
  • Bear in mind, if a change in sign, signal, or device were necessitated by a speed limit decrease, the requesting hospital would have to pay the cost of doing so.
