Carole is the Vice President for System’s Orthopedics at Sentara Healthcare. Carole has worked as a Chief Clinical and Compliance Officer for an Ambulatory Surgery Center company, a Vice President of Medical Staff Services and Quality for a healthcare system, a Corporate Vice President for Applied Business Science and Education for a specialty hospital and healthcare system, a Corporate Consultant/Clinical Improvement Director for a Center for Continuous Improvement and Innovation, a Corporate Vice President for Ambulatory Clinical Improvement and a Corporate Vice President for ASC Operations for a 3.4 billion dollar integrated healthcare system. She has had the pleasure of building and growing programs for large healthcare systems, small and rural hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, insurance companies and ambulatory entities. Carole is a trained Six Sigma Black Belt. She has published numerous books and journal articles on leadership, clinical pathways, quality tools, Six Sigma, healthcare operations, and consumer driven healthcare. She recently completed serving as a national board member for the Association of Professionals for Infection Control (APIC). Carole is a member of the Product Advisory Council for the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) and helped create and teach their highly successful Intro to Quality Course that is offered across the nation.
